Annex IV of NR-37 Basic Safety Course in Cargo Handling and Transportation of People

Minimum course load: 20 hours

Program content:

a) Basic concepts in cargo and people handling;

b) Types of lifting equipment;

c) Components and accessories used in handling and their respective applications;

d) Visual inspection of handling equipment and accessories;

e) Load capacity tables for equipment and accessories;

f) Critical load handling (hazardous materials, large parts, pipes, profiles, sheets, shafts, etc.);

g) Communication during the movement of people and loads: signalman, signaling, and radio communication;

h) Incidents and accidents during handling;

i) Procedures for safety in handling people and loads;

j) Protective equipment;

k) Handling operation practices on board the platform; and

l) Final evaluation.
