Having banned in almost 70 countries because of its devastating carcinogenic potential, asbestos is still sold in 18 Brazilian states. The World Health Organization (WHO) ensures that there is no safe limit of exposure to this mineral widely used in the Brazilian construction industry.
The documentary “Do not Breathe – Contains Asbestos” investigates how a company, through political campaigns, financing and academic research and marketing investments, tries to sell the image of a type of asbestos used in the billion dollar Brazilian tile market, which is called “chrysotile”, as ‘not so bad’.
The premiere of the documentary is on June 2nd, at 8:00 pm, at São Paulo Cultural Center.
